Aren’t you glad the sun is shining once again? I know I am. I told the students this week - once the sun comes out everything looks different, doesn’t it?

I often think of how the old buildings in London look; when the sky is grey and the air is grey and everyone is dressed in drab colours, wrapped up tight against the cold, wind and rain, the building are also grey and everything seems miserable, doesn’t it?

Yet, once the sun comes out people look up and smile, the sunlight glistens on the once grey buildings, shining brightly, giving the impression of jewels embedded into the facia. Suddenly, it seems like people have come alive; colours seems brighter and even when it is still cold in the air, there seems to be an optimism that was missing before. Isn’t it just like that with and without our ‘Son’? When Jesus is missingin a situation it seems drab and grey, with no life, yet, whatever the difficulties and challenges, once we allow the light of the Son to shine into the situation the whole picture changes. Where once there was no hope, now there is expectation of good things to come. Where there was once despair and sadness, there is now joy.

When Jesus takes control the impossible becomes possible and the out of reach dream becomes reality. As we begin to enjoy more sunny days, let us remember Who the sun represents - the Son of God, our Saviour and King - no wonder we are all a little happier when the sun shines in the natural... it is simply a representation of what happens in the spirit.

I don’t know about you, but I always want the Light of the Son to shine in my life just as I can enjoy the light and warmth of the physical sun.

Clean Joke Of The Day

  • 10:28 - 5.09.2010

    Today's category: Lawyers

    Reasonable Doubt

A defendant was on trial for murder. There was strong evidence indicating guilt, but there was no corpse. In the defense's closing statement the lawyer, knowing that his client would probably be convicted, resorted to a trick.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I have a surprise for you all," the lawyer said as he looked at his watch. "Within one minute, the person presumed dead in this case will walk into this courtroom." He looked toward the courtroom door. The jurors, somewhat stunned, all looked on eagerly. A minute passed. Nothing happened.

Finally the lawyer said, "Actually, I made up the previous statement. But, you all looked on with anticipation. I therefore put to you that you have a reasonable doubt in this case as to whether anyone was killed and insist that you return a verdict of not guilty." The jury, clearly confused, retired to deliberate. A few minutes later, the jury returned and pronounced a verdict of guilty.

"But how?" inquired the lawyer. "You must have had some doubt; I saw all of you stare at the door."

The jury foreman replied, "Oh, we looked, but your client didn't."

Verse of The Day (KJV)

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Verse of The Day (NIV)

“Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
