Aren’t you glad the sun is shining once again? I know I am. I told the students this week - once the sun comes out everything looks different, doesn’t it? Aren’t you glad the sun is shining once again? I know I am. I told the students this week - once the sun comes out everything looks different, doesn’t it? I often think of how the old buildings in London look; when the sky is grey and the air is grey and everyone is dressed in drab colours, wrapped up tight against the cold, wind and rain, the building are also grey and everything seems miserable, doesn’t it? Yet, once the sun comes out people look up and smile, the sunlight glistens on the once grey buildings, shining brightly, giving the impression of jewels embedded into the facia. Suddenly, it seems like people have come alive; colours seems brighter and even when it is still cold in the air, there seems to be an optimism that was missing before. Isn’t it just like that with and without our ‘Son’? When Jesus is missingin a situation it seems drab and grey, with no life, yet, whatever the difficulties and challenges, once we allow the light of the Son to shine into the situation the whole picture changes. Where once there was no hope, now there is expectation of good things to come. Where there was once despair and sadness, there is now joy. When Jesus takes control the impossible becomes possible and the out of reach dream becomes reality. As we begin to enjoy more sunny days, let us remember Who the sun represents - the Son of God, our Saviour and King - no wonder we are all a little happier when the sun shines in the natural... it is simply a representation of what happens in the spirit. I don’t know about you, but I always want the Light of the Son to shine in my life just as I can enjoy the light and warmth of the physical sun. |
