A lot of people talk about ‘finding themselves’ and I suppose they mean that, somehow, in the hustle and bustle of life, they have lost sight of who they are. Perhaps, in some cases, it is when someone has become so wrapped up in another person that they have almost lost their own identity.

A lot of people talk about ‘finding themselves’ and I suppose they mean that, somehow, in the hustle and bustle of life, they have lost sight of who they are. Perhaps, in some cases, it is when someone has become so wrapped up in another person that they have almost lost their own identity.

One thing I have discovered is that, in order to find oneself, you must first find the One who made you! Our concept of who we are has been shaped by so many outside influences – our parents, our teachers and, later, our work colleagues or bosses – not to mention the powerful influence the media has on us. We can easily form an image of ourselves that is way off target.

The trouble is, this image controls the way we act – the way we think about ourselves – and we come to a place where we really don’t know who we are anymore. Thank God for Jesus!

In Colossians 2:10, we are given the good news, “Ye are completely complete in Him.” That is a great place to start. If we find Jesus, we find who we are. Once you have accepted Him as your Lord and Saviour you life, the Bible tells us, is hidden in Him. He is the head and we are the body.

Verse nineteen of the same chapter of Colossians tells us the body (of Christ) is nourished by the Head. Everything we need is in Jesus. We can find out who we are when we look at ourselves through His eyes.  You see, His image of us is not tainted by the influences in the world. He sees us the way He meant for us to be. If we can simply recognise that we are totally and absolutely complete in Him then we can begin to change the image we have of ourselves.

He spells it out clearly in the Bible how He sees you and, since His eyesight is better than yours, why don’t you decide to trust what He says about you and walk in that truth? In Christ you will find the ‘Whole Person’ you were looking for – YOU!

Clean Joke Of The Day

  • 10:28 - 5.09.2010

    Today's category: Lawyers

    Reasonable Doubt

A defendant was on trial for murder. There was strong evidence indicating guilt, but there was no corpse. In the defense's closing statement the lawyer, knowing that his client would probably be convicted, resorted to a trick.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I have a surprise for you all," the lawyer said as he looked at his watch. "Within one minute, the person presumed dead in this case will walk into this courtroom." He looked toward the courtroom door. The jurors, somewhat stunned, all looked on eagerly. A minute passed. Nothing happened.

Finally the lawyer said, "Actually, I made up the previous statement. But, you all looked on with anticipation. I therefore put to you that you have a reasonable doubt in this case as to whether anyone was killed and insist that you return a verdict of not guilty." The jury, clearly confused, retired to deliberate. A few minutes later, the jury returned and pronounced a verdict of guilty.

"But how?" inquired the lawyer. "You must have had some doubt; I saw all of you stare at the door."

The jury foreman replied, "Oh, we looked, but your client didn't."

Verse of The Day (KJV)

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Verse of The Day (NIV)

“Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
