In the first book of Kings, chapter twenty, there is a verse that I believe was the undoing of the Syrian army of the day. They said: “The Lord is God of the hills, but He is not the God of the valleys.” How little they knew or understood about the majesty and greatness of Almighty God! Our God is an Awesome God. He created the heavens and the earth and He is omnipresent – everywhere at the same time. There is nowhere that you can go that God cannot find you; no depths to which you can sink where His hand cannot reach you.

It may seem like your situation is out of control and beyond help but I have good news for you today – God is the God of the valleys as well as the hills. He can reach in and turn around any situation so that it works for your good. In fact, He makes sure that, for every child of God, EVERYTHING works together to bring about what is best for us. One scripture tells us that what the devil meant for evil, God turns around for our good. There is nothing that can come our way that is beyond the Lord’s ability to deal with. We simply have to learn to recognise the hand of the Lord in every situation.

Sometimes it is hard to see His plan because we are faced with a problem of such magnitude that it seems to blot out the light. It is at times like this that we have to have faith. Faith is not simply believing God for things – it is trusting Him when we can’t see where we are or where we are going. It is believing Him when He tells us that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. It is putting our hand into His hand and allowing Him to guide us through the darkness. One thing we can be sure of, though, is that the trials come to pass. Yes, they only endure for a short time, the Bible tells us it is ‘for a night’ but joy comes in the morning! I wish you joy in every area of your life.

Clean Joke Of The Day

  • 10:28 - 5.09.2010

    Today's category: Lawyers

    Reasonable Doubt

A defendant was on trial for murder. There was strong evidence indicating guilt, but there was no corpse. In the defense's closing statement the lawyer, knowing that his client would probably be convicted, resorted to a trick.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I have a surprise for you all," the lawyer said as he looked at his watch. "Within one minute, the person presumed dead in this case will walk into this courtroom." He looked toward the courtroom door. The jurors, somewhat stunned, all looked on eagerly. A minute passed. Nothing happened.

Finally the lawyer said, "Actually, I made up the previous statement. But, you all looked on with anticipation. I therefore put to you that you have a reasonable doubt in this case as to whether anyone was killed and insist that you return a verdict of not guilty." The jury, clearly confused, retired to deliberate. A few minutes later, the jury returned and pronounced a verdict of guilty.

"But how?" inquired the lawyer. "You must have had some doubt; I saw all of you stare at the door."

The jury foreman replied, "Oh, we looked, but your client didn't."

Verse of The Day (KJV)

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Verse of The Day (NIV)

“Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
